Quite simply, the more sites that link to your site, the higher your popularity ranking will be. Submitting your website to u-Hits is a great way to get your site seen and indexed by the major search engines. u-Hits is regularly spidered by all the major engines, including Google and Yahoo and if you submit to us with a Standard, Sponsored or reciprocal link, you site will be fully searchable by them and although we make no guarantees, your site details page should show up on their listings within weeks of your link being approved. Please bare in mind that you are NOT paying for a submission to our site; you are paying for a review. All submissions are manually reviewed and your submission may not be accepted. In such case, a full refund will always be given.

In the context of u-Hits, SEO, or Search Engine Optimised means that your links can be seen (followed) and indexed (listed) by other search engines that visit our site. In addition, descriptive tags called meta-tags are placed with your listing, if you choose to supply them, that can only be seen by those Search Engines. This ensures a greater chance that you site will be indexed by them.

While our basic links are fully Search Engine compliant, our Sponsored listings offer enhanced visibility and are listed ahead of any other listings, both on our category pages and within any searches undertaken by our users. Not only that, there are many enhanced fetaures that come with our paid listings, giving you the chance to help increase your website or business exposure. There are many reasons why your site may not show up in our listings. These include, but are not limited to: -

• Site was rejected.
• Site not yet reviewed.
• You did not confirm your submission.

Your site may have been rejected for any number of reasons. Please read our submission guidelines and the notes next to the submission form for further details. Also, when your site is rejected, you will be sent a custom notice outlining possible reasons why we felt your submission could not be included in our directory.

u-Hits operates a very strict policy regarding our submission guidelines and any site not conforming to these, may be rejected from inclusion.

We also require that any submission to us is confirmed from the email address that you supplied. Listings that remain unconfirmed 1 month after submission are automatically removed without us ever having seen them.

We will always try to notify you of the reasons for rejection, However, approximately 80% of all submissions we receive are rejected quite simply because the confirmation link in the email we sent was not clicked! If you didn't see the confirmation email then you probably didn't see the rejection email either!. We treat unconfirmed submissions as spam, and as such they will always be rejected. Multiple unconfirmed submissions from the same IP or email address will result in submissions being blocked from that location.

The review times depends upon the submission type, but is usually less than 12 hours. However, free submissions are reviewed on a casual basis and may take several weeks, but this is extremely unlikely.

All submissions are reviewed manually. We visit your site and make certain checks to ensure that it adheres to our submission guidelines. As a result, certain submission can take longer to review. For example, if we initially review your site and it is unavailable, we will usually wait 24 hours and then check again.

If you are having trouble submitting your website for review, the following list of common problems may be the reason.

• The URL of the submitted website was incorrect.
  Please make sure that the URL entered points to an available website. Upon submission, our script checks to see if the website is available and will reject a submission if your website doers not exist, or in certain extreme circumstances, if your site is very slow to load.
• Invalid or no security code entered.
  Please ensure that the correct security code is entered. This should match the characters on the image. If you cannot view the image, please adjust your browser settings. This has been tested on the latest versions of Internet Explorer and Firefox. Please also consider that certain characters do look alike, so if your see 'invalid code', then it is because you the code wasn't entered as shown.
• A mandatory field is missing
  All fields marked by a '*' are required fields. Any of these that are missing will result in your submission not being submitted.
• Unauthorised access
  If you receive this message, then it could be that your IP, email or domain have been banned from submitting to our site. This is only done under extreme circumstances when we believe that someone has tried to abuse our system. If you are getting this message and believe it to be in error, please contact us giving as much information as possible.
• Session timeout
  In order to preven automated and robot submissions we utilise sessions. As such, if you take too long to submit a listing, you may get this error. We currently allow arount 20 minutes per submit session, which is usually ample time to complete even our longest form.
  
  If you have disabilities that make it impossible for you to submit your listing, please contact us, explaining the situation and we will temporarly increase the session limit.
As with anything on the intnernet, gremlins can sometimes take over, so always please check your submission and try again. Please also use the help icons alongside each field as they contain invaluable information that will help get your listings approved. These will tell you the requirements for each field as well as other useful information about what is allowed or not allowed.

If you have submitted your website for review and have confirmed your listing, it will not show on the site immediately. First, it will go into a queue for us to review. Depending on you subission time, this can take anything from just a few hours to several weeks, but is generally less than 12 hours. Once approved, your site may still not display on site for up to one hour due to website caching that is in place to improve performance. Often, you site will show immediately within search results, but will not show immediately as a 'latest link'. Please wait at least one hour.
